Taxidermy conservation course: 8th to 10th of November 2021.

This course is aimed more at those who manage and conserve taxidermy collections. It comprises a three day mainly practical course,
repairing the ravages of pest and time on taxidermy specimens, dressing dry areas of skin, beak and horn; re-feathering birds, using and painting glass eyes,
and how to use finer Japanese tissues in this context and practicing needle felting to restore areas of missing fur.
Pinned insect conservation course: 11th to 12th of November 2021.

This course requires steady hands! You will be learning how to repair insect and other dried, pinned arthropod specimens that have sustained physical and pest damage,
also disruption due to verdigris and rust. Much use of Gampi tissue and learning how to repair and restore butterfly wings that have been munched by pests.
Visual aids will be available to borrow or to purchase as required.
Cost: £300.00 for the taxidermy conservation course, £250.00 for the Pinned Insects course but only £500.00 for the combined taxidermy and pinned insect conservation courses.
Covid regulations and restrictions will apply so please bring masks too.
Hopefully this problem will have eased by then but if it worsens then the course will be postponed until sometime next year!
